Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive condition where the macula, the central portion of the retina, begins to deteriorate and impair central vision. Comprehensive treatments like AREDS vitamin regimens and anti-VEGF therapies, offered by the retina specialists at Retina & Vitreous of Texas, can help slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration and preserve as much of your vision as possible.
If you have diabetes, you could be at risk for diabetic retinopathy, an eye condition that can lead to impaired vision and contribute to other conditions like glaucoma and cataracts. It occurs when high blood sugar levels associated with diabetes cause blood vessels in the retina to weaken, swell, leak, or close off, or cause abnormal blood vessels to grow and leak blood into the eye. Depending on the type and severity of your condition, your eye doctor at Retina & Vitreous of Texas may recommend lifestyle changes, topical medicines, injections, laser treatments, or surgery to prevent further vision loss.

From the beginning of my visit front to the back staff is courteous and engaging. You are not treated like an assembly line or number just passing through. You’re greeted by name through out. Technicians are patient and kind. Even the doctor greets you with caring concern.
